Fourth Consideration: “When Is the perfect time to have my baby’s portrait made?

”Right now! There are several distinct stages your infant will pass through and you will want to have all of them recorded. First is the newborn stage. They are tiny and new sleeping most of the time and emitting endearing little grunting sounds. This stage lasts only about 10 weeks before they move into the baby stage. In this stage, they are discovering the world around them. Their muscles are getting stronger, they begin to recognize faces and laugh. I have always maintained that hearing a baby laugh is good for the soul. The last stage is just before they pass into toddler hood. Great physical feats are accomplished as they become mobile and more independent. Your baby’s first year is downright astonishing and having a set of photographs from every stage is essential.



Because I specialize photographing babies, I am able to portray your beautifully – no matter what their age.

Contrary to popular opinion, babies are not blobs until they can sit up and if a studio tells you that, look elsewhere. What they are really saying is they don’t have the first idea what to do with a baby who cannot sit up. Not only do babies not need to be sitting up to get a great portrait, they don’t even have to be able to hold their head up.What happens if you wait until your baby is 6 months old and sitting up before ever having a professional portrait made. While this age is precious and certainly worth photographing, you have virtually lost the newborn stage forever - the shape of their head, their birth hair (or lack of it) and how tiny they were.
